THE RM OF LORNE GIVES NOTICE OF INTENT TO CONSTRUCT MUNICIPAL BRIDGE WORKS. The Procurement Services Branch of Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation administers the Agreement on Internal Trade pertaining to procurement. Tendering in Canada is governed by the Agreement, which also applies to Municipal Governments; this notification is intended to comply with the AIT requirements. Accordingly, any contractor may request to be qualified and participate in the proposed Municipal bridge works. Engineering Designs are now complete and the RM of Lorne has ordered the materials for two single-span precast bridges to be founded on high capacity screw piles for constructed in October of 2014. Be advised that other local contractors have been involved with the preparation of construction costs for this project. Additional contractors can request Plans and specifications by PDF, from the Project Manager Denis Andrews Consulting Inc. dandrews@mts.net Please note that the design and Geotechnical certification of the screw pile foundations will be the sole responsibility of the successful bidder. Due to the nature of the foundation soils at these two sites, alternate foundations will not be considered to resist vertical loads or uplift forces. Interested contractors will be pre-qualified based on an evaluation of previous work, equipment, and staff. The Project Manager will undertake contractor qualifications in concert with the RM of Lorne and the project engineers. Contractors with the lowest qualification scores will not be considered or notified. Bridge drawings will only be provided to highly qualified applicant(s). Note that as time is of the essence, and that much of the completed design is proprietary in nature the pool of qualified contractors will be kept to a minimum. Note also that the lowest, or any qualifying bid may not be selected. The Project Manager must receive bids using PDF by October 5, 2014.
